Badman Ting vs Depthcuts – Pennines’ biggest nights team up for farewell Manchester Jungle gig

Our friends over at Badman Ting and Depthcuts are teaming up for Badman Ting vs Depthcuts, which promises to be a huge night for Jungle heads!

_______________________________________________________

Manchester’s only dedicated old skool jungle night Badman Ting is coming to an end with a special Badman Ting vs Depthcuts, at Manchester’s Club Academy, Friday 13th July.

Three veterans of jungle music, Dom and Roland, Bad Company and Remarc will be gracing the decks with golden-era jungle sets, including a rare No U-Turn records showcase from Dom.

Dom and Roland has been a seminal figure in the drum’n’bass scene since its emergence in the early 90s. For nearly two decades his brand of dark dnb has received heavy DJ support from contemporaries such as Grooverider and Ed Rush, but he has also received regular airplay from many outside the dnb scene, such as the late John Peel.
Dom is joined by Maldini of the first drum’n’bass supergroup Bad Company – responsible for classics such as ‘Nitrous’, ‘Planet Dust’ and most notably ‘The Nine’, which has been voted the best drum’n’bass track ever in various polls. Rounding off the line up is ‘king of the amen’ Remarc – having released his first ragga jungle track back in 1993, he will feel right at home.

Promoter Nanny said: “We’re sad to see the end of a regular dedicated jungle experience in Manchester. We feel like every line up we’ve put together has been a little special and this one is no different. As always it’s going to be a really good atmosphere and from the response we’ve had so far we’re expecting to out with a bang.”

Badman Ting launched over a year ago and has gained an enviable reputation as Manchester’s premier night for jungle music. Highlighted by the Guardian last year as one of the country’s best new club nights, it has been credited with putting the fun back into parties. Their uncompromising old skool jungle and golden era dnb music policy has provided a haven for ravers less enamoured with the way the drum’n’bass scene has developed since the turn of the century.
Depthcuts is Yorkshire’s longest running drum’n’bass and hip-hop night, and it also has a highly popular sister night ‘LDN DC’ in London. This event celebrates its tenth birthday.

Dirt Cheap talks to Depthcuts

As stated on our brand spanking homepage (here) we have recently partnered with Depthcuts and LDN DC (…C’mon our initials already match), first thing is we’re both going to be at Limetree Festival, which looks wicked so get tickets! or better still enter our competition to win some! (here) For those that don’t know about them we figured maybe the best way for you to find out was if we interviewed them, so here we go…

DC What is Depthcuts?

Gav (promoter) – Depthcuts is an underground dance music collective that started in Halifax in 2002 – we’ve since been involved in events all over the UK. It started as a hip-hop and drum’n’bass night but it’s developed to incorporate what we’ve considered to be the most exciting elements of the UK music scene. Dubstep, for example, didn’t really exist when we first started out and we were one of the first nights in Yorkshire to start playing that – I remember people really didn’t know what to make of it at first.

AC Slater

ONLY 350 CAPACITY SO FIRST COME FIRST SERVED!

Urban Nerds’ monthly mash-up brings a regular dose of Nerds madness to our favourite East End boozer, The Macbeth on the last Saturday of every month, showcasing our favourite up and coming acts, producers and DJs in the dubstep, garage, electro and UK bass game!

This November, the 9th edition of House Party brings with it a return to the 4am license which means more late-night messiness. Yes yes! The line-up is also tantalisingly bass heavy as we welcome the mighty AC Slater, all the way from Brooklyn, NYC! If you’re not down with AC yet, check him out. His electro meets dubstep meets downright, ridiculously dirty deep bass style never ever fails to kick a party off. Bass face at the ready! Support comes from Urban Nerds boys Rattus Rattus & Klose One with their usual no holds barred take on underground UK beats and blips, plus future bass and D&B from Chew The Fat! hot tip, Randomer! There’s also big bad electro house from our pal Savage Henry, with Nerds fam Daddy Nature warming things up for the early birds with UK hip-hop, reggae and dubstep. Not half bad for a fiver!

Andy C

YES! this should be sick, a documentary on arguably the best label and most talented producer on the Drum n Bass scene. A producer and DJ who consistantly smashes it! I can say after seeing him over 20 times I would guess, that he never dissapoints!
