Juna Cosmos – Mindless EP

fa22f20d-5822-4404-8cb5-522d231a3065

Underground producer/rapper Juna Cosmos has been getting some good press recently, you can now cop his latest offering ‘Mindless’.

Heavy bass-driven tracks and almost spoken-word rapping give this Trap/Alternative Hip-Hop release a gritty, raw and heavy feel. A bit monotonous for me, but sure to be a hit in the dingy packed out clubs.

You can follow his work here, via soundcloud here, and download the EP from here.

Produced and mixed by Micky Goldmill, the track is an eerie, bass-heavy banger with a tripped out visual by Feeblemedia. P Solja laces the beat with his signature laid-back flow. This video is just a taster for a full compilation mixtape soon to drop on TGP.

Submotion Orchestra – Alium

2fd8ca89-91c5-49e0-9874-af3dff1f1d79

We have featured the excellent Submotion Orchestra a couple of times in the past and with the release of their third album very soon we thought we would give you a little taster of what’s to come…

City Lights – released 3rd Nov

Time Will Wait –  released 4 July

Packed with equal parts emotion and bass they seemingly know how to build songs near perfectly – a real sense of quality, and craft pervading through all their work. It is clear that each member is highly skilled and passionate of their craft and this shows with some very impressive music.

Having seen them live, in monsoon like rain, they still commanded such a strong sense of atmosphere and the undeniable urge to get your hands in the air. Much of this is due to the unrelenting build up and break down of rolling bass, however unquestionably the amazing vocal talent of Ruby Wood is equally imperative to creating this experience.

Tracks taken from Submotion Orchestra‘s new album, Alium, released 3 November 2014 on 2LP, CD and download via @CounterRecords.

Find out more about Submotion Orchestra on their website here. Also see them on Facebook, Twitter & Soundcloud.

Urban Nerds celebrate five years of crazy line-ups in London, as we pull out all the stops to hand pick a diverse set of underground UK bass, dubstep, grime and funky acts on one of our broadest cross-sections of talent yet…we’re marking 5 with a return to the deep underground sounds that we kicked off with back in 2007!

Grime veterans Newham Generals – MCs D Double E and Footsie – have gone from strength to strength in recent years. This is an act known for their lyrical aptitude and versatile musical styling that sees them successfully straddling the genres of grime and dubstep with releases such as ‘Generally Speaking’ in 2009. Dynamic and seamless, theirs will be a highlight set!

Gorgon City is the brand new powerful collaboration between Foamo and RackNRuin. These UK bass producers come together in style to produce big sounds – for this highly anticipated new project.

Klashnekoff, who made his name in the underground UK hip hop scene with singles such as ‘Murda’ in 2004, boosts the bass ranks, alongside Rudimental, whose ‘Feel the Love’ is currently Radio 1’s Mistajam’s JAM HOT track of the week. Urban Nerds’ newest resident, Rinse FM’s Marcus Nasty is undoubtedly one of the pioneers of the UK funky movement. He’ll be kicking up the pace with MCs PSG and Sharky P, while fellow Nerds resident Rattus Rattus will deliver one of his smash-out sets hosted by drum ‘n’ bass legend MC, IC3.

Room 2 presents two of the hottest UK grime labels: No Hats No Hoods versus King Pigeon Records. Bringing together the finest from both camps, DJs Warrior One, Rude Kid, Magic, Eastwood, Guerilla Speakerz, Lenkemz, Murlo and a live PA of ‘Beautiful’ by Jae Ella will keep the vibe rude and bouncy. Hyping up the crowd are MCs of the moment, Kozzie, Scrufizzer, Trilla, Chronik, Merky Ace and Roachee.

Two of London’s fastest growing party-starting crews, our mates at Get Low and Redux go head to head in Room 3. with residents Get Low Cartel, Binman, Arch, Sai, Newjack and RankOutsider, selecting across a broad span of genres ranging from jungle and dubstep to bassline!

Chow Down – bringing the cutting edge of UK & bass music ranging from grime, hip hop, garage, funky and dub.

‘In their opening three events, Manchester’s new bass-driven club night CHOW DOWN have hosted; Bok Bok, Lil Silva, Oneman, Damu and Jo Kira. That alone, speaks volumes. Bearing in mind that’s occurred in only the last 4 months, the clan have enormous plans for the future. After starting to smash a niche market square in the face, CHOW DOWN have unsurprisingly secured a residency at Manchester’s intimate Joshua Brooks venue.’
