Juna Cosmos – Mindless EP

Underground producer/rapper Juna Cosmos has been getting some good press recently, you can now cop his latest offering ‘Mindless’.

Heavy bass-driven tracks and almost spoken-word rapping give this Trap/Alternative Hip-Hop release a gritty, raw and heavy feel. A bit monotonous for me, but sure to be a hit in the dingy packed out clubs.

You can follow his work here, via soundcloud here, and download the EP from here.

Ty – Like You Never

Here’s a brand new banger from UK Hip-Hop legend TY, an extremely talented independent artist who has been putting in work on the scene for a long time!

Without wanting to call this conscious Hip-Hop, but yeh, this is real talk not this Pop-Hop, watered down rubbish prevalent now; just like the song says…  ‘I hear anger in music, but the message is hollow’

Turn this up, it’s a real beat…

ODESZA – Say My Name (feat. Zyra)

Okay okay so I was just about to finish posting for this morning, but wait, what’s this? …a damn nice slice of funky, fluffy loveliness! This will be ODESZA’s first release from their forthcoming album, ‘In Return’ (out Sept. 8th on Counter Records (a Ninja Tune imprint)). Well, this has got me excited already!

Not my usual thing, being pretty Poppy, I guess, but this grabbed my attention and being indirectly from Ninja Tunes, it’s hardly surprising; they really can’t do any wrong by me!

ODESZA – Say My Name (feat. Zyra)

Back to the song, a really nice upbeat feeling to this bouncy Pop banger and the vocals supplied by Zyra are uplifting and affecting. Great use of build up and layering in this tune to produce a rising feeling of excitement. I can see this being a real festival anthem, like the song says, ‘I wanna dance, I wanna dance’

Having just smashed a tour of the US, they’re soon to be in Europe for the ‘Set it Off’ tour.

P Solja – Kick Back Chillin

New music video for P Solja marking the first release by Leeds based collective ‘The Guilty Party’, Stay tuned on these guys, they are making moves!

P Solja – Kick Back Chillin

Produced and mixed by Micky Goldmill, the track is an eerie, bass-heavy banger with a tripped out visual by Feeblemedia. P Solja laces the beat with his signature laid-back flow. This video is just a taster for a full compilation mixtape soon to drop on TGP.

Evan Black – For The Birds

Some real nice music for you this morning from Boston native Evan Black, his second release after  “The Arrival” which featured the likes of Emilio Rojas, Skyzoo and Reks, boasting a definite Boston feel to this, ‘For The Birds’ is a personal and heartfelt journey through relationships, drinking, daily life and Hip-Hop. His vocals the only featured on the release, flow in harmony with the excellent production by Portland-born recording artist and beatsmith Customary. The release features 12 original new tracks produced by Customary including the singles “Go Round,” “Stay Young” and “Cheap Date.”

Chris B. Murray provides the totally awesome original album artwork.

Okay so we can’t embed the songs, but you can listen/download etc here.

Napoleon LV – Take it Away

Straight out of North Carolina, Napoleon LV may be relatively new to the scene (starting in 2009), but he is already making an impact – having worked with “Little Brother”, Curren$y, Hot Spitta/ Wiz Khalifa and having worked on videos for 2chainz, Asap Rocky, CamRon & Red Cafe.

‘Take it Away’ is his latest release from the EP “Superb”, produced by Russian Natives ∆PƩXProduction.

If I had to say, I would say it is reminiscent of someone like Fashawn to me but with a much more cinematic feel, to the music especially, this is some chilled-out, slightly dark, anthem kind of vibe. Check out some of his other work too, an interesting sound which seems quite removed from lots of other current Hip-Hop. It’s set to be an interesting release! You can find out more about Napoleon IV via his Twitter here.
