Gangstarr’s Guru in coma – UPDATE: Guru Surgery Successful; Full Recovery Expected

“Gangstarr mainstay and renowned MC Guru is currently in a coma after suffering a cardiac arrest.

The world of hip hop has been shocked by reports that Gangstarr legend Guru is suffering from ill health. News emerged over the weekend that the MC had suffered a cardiac arrest, and had even lapsed into a coma.

These rumours have now been confirmed by DJ Premier. The other half of Gangstarr the turntablist phoned up an American radio station to confirm the news after speculation began over the rapper’s health.

Speaking to Satellite XM, Hip Hop Wired reports the Gangstarr legend as saying: “Guru IS in a coma and will go under surgery tomorrow afternoon.”

Details remain slim, with Guru’s family yet to make a statement on the rapper’s health problems.”

Taken from here. Very sad news. Best wishes to him, hopefully a speedy recovery and he can continue making dope tunes! GET WELL SOON GURU!!

UPDATE: “Guru is recovering from a successful surgery yesterday (March 1st), after suffering a massive heart attack over the weekend.

Sources close to Guru told AllHipHop.com that the rapper is doing “fine” and should make a full recovery, despite chatter on the Internet that the 43-year-old artist had died.

“Guru is alive and recovering from his surgery. Doctors are expecting a full recovery luckily,” a source told AllHipHop.com.

Guru’s partner DJ Premier also confirmed the news on his official Twitter page.”

Good news.

Alice in Wonderland (1903)

“The first-ever film version of Lewis Carroll’s tale has recently been restored by the BFI National Archive from severely damaged materials. Made just 37 years after Lewis Carroll wrote his novel and eight years after the birth of cinema, the adaptation was directed by Cecil Hepworth and Percy Stow, and was based on Sir John Tenniel’s original illustrations. In an act that was to echo more than 100 years later, Hepworth cast his wife as the Red Queen, and he himself appears as the Frog Footman. Even the Cheshire cat is played by a family pet.

With a running time of just 12 minutes (8 of which survive), Alice in Wonderland was the longest film produced in England at that time. Film archivists have been able to restore the film’s original colours for the first time in over 100 years.”

Very cool, more info here. Shouts to Ben.
